EL Segundo Greekap: An Escape from Reality Index

My sister Molly, the brilliant writer, tells me that it's not enough to recap an episode. No one wants to read that.  I need to bring up the heat with something new.  But my mind isn't focused enough because The Princess Bride just started on Bravo, and I haven't watched it in months.  Buttercup just ran into the Sicilian and co.

Okay, focus.  I think I'll just try a tricked out recap and come up with my new strategy next week?  Can you all hold out?

This week's
episode of my dear Greek answered a few of my queries.  Where is Gonzo (Franco)?  I sort of missed the answer and the episode isn't online yet, but at least I know that the Kappa Taus noticed their missing brother.

Likewise, the ZBZs noticed their missing sister, Betsy.  Not only did they talk about her, but they brought her back.  I was thrilled. I almost put an exclamation point after "they brought her back." But then I didn't and wasted time writing about my punctuation choice.  I think that Casey tried to make up for forgetting Betsy last week by mentioning her name A LOT and putting her in almost every scene.  She also made a funny about how Betsy drank Rebecca's vodka.  Mwahahah.

Okay, I just took a half hour break from writing this so I can't remember exactly where I was.  But while I was away, I was telling my friend allll about my best parts of this episode.  The parts I couldn't resist texting my sister about immediately after they happened.  Frannie's Titanic brush, bringing about the statement "I miss old Leo," followed by a wistful moment to remember him.  Case, Bex, Ash, we all feel exactly the same.  And Leo, although we love you in The Departed
and a littttle bit in Revolutionary Road, your true teeny bopper fanbase comes from the Titanic/Romeo + Juliet days.

The second textable moment came right after the Pants sketch.  BTdubz Ash, you totally pulled off the America Ferrera look, even if it was more Betty than Carmen. Back to my point.  The rushees fawning over Kostos while Casey is all eh. Casey is crazy about Kostos.  It was genius and exactly the kind of OC-esque self-awareness that I love so much.  On the Pants note, Casey, nobody whines about being Blake Lively. She is frickin Serena! But I too prefer Heidi because she is super-gorg.

Speaking of Heidi, the IKIs looked AMAZING in the Fashion Week gear.  Rebecca and Frannie beasted the supermodel look.  I think they pulled it off better than Casey and Ashleigh could have.  I love Rebecca now.  I'm even okay with her getting back with Cappie.  But I'm sort of mad at him.

Okay yeah, Rusty messed up by telling Andelicious (or something way cooler) about all the KT stuff, but Cappie way overreacted and was a total douche.  Not cool, Cap, not cool.  But I still love the Beaver like crazy.  Plus, I think Jesse McCartney
is getting more lovable, because he was totally precious and am I crazy or did he look almost hot?

I think the least lovable character this week (even moreso than Frannie) was Evan Chambers.  What a tool.  He is like a nonentity on the show, but whenever he is there, he is just sucking.  On the bright side, when he tried to talk to Rusty, they made an unintentional dirty joke that I appreciated. The former lead singer of Dream Street was totally dead-on when he said that Calvin was the only decent guy there.  Because Calvin is awesome. He may be the best guy ever.  He better find a man of his own soon.  But EW spoilers claim that he gets frisky with a closeted roomie.  Can't wait!

Expect a better Greekap next week.  Sorry if this sucked.  But at least the episode doesn't.

13

It is very possible that I was born about 7 years too early.  And that in reality, I should be 13 right now.  Most people think that I was born about 10 or 15 years too late, because of my fondness for 80s teen movies and Degrassi, but I am fairly certain that the HSM, Disneycrazed era was pretty much made for someone such as myself.  I mean, I think that Nick Jonas is cute, there is very little I find funnier than Wizards of Waverly Place, and I can totally relate to 12-year olds.  I am 20 and I still watch not-stop movies and tv about high school.  Granted, I also watch shows about college, but there aren't that many, so generally, it's much more high school.

In the People's Sexiest Man Alive issue this year, they had a whole section on all of the sexiest 21 year olds.  Perfect age range for me.  And yeah they were totally some of the sexiest men alive (hellooo Zac Efron just keeps getting better) but I still think the prepub Benny (the Jet) Rodriguez is mad hot.  And Leo at any age.  I suppose that the 13-year olds probably don't know who Benny is, so maybe I am a product of my time. But I still wish it wasn't so lame of me to like the Jonas Brothers.
