Sure Things

My best friend, Danit, has this weakness for Jew humor.  If any movie, song, play, or show has a reference to anything Jewish, she falls for it immediately.  It could be something oozing the Judaism, like the Passover episode of The O.C. or something completely stupid, like a guy mentioning his bar mitzvah in conversation.  The Jew humor is a guarantee that Danit will like the material.  It's her sure thing.

I was watching 90210 2.0 the other night and I finally realized that I have a sure thing too.  It's completely ridiculous and stupid of me, but I can't help it.  I love anything that mentions modern pop culture or popular websites.  Adrianna (formerly Mandi on Greek) was asking Naomi (also from Greek) about her new crush and asked her if he had a Facebook or a Myspace.  I swooned.  Couldn't help it.  Then, later on Annoying Annie (Darcy from Degrassi) was hanging with Adrianna and some guy walked by and said "Hey Juno!"  Again, swoonage.  Get the Juno thing?  Because Adrianna is a preg teen?  Yeah.  Whatever.

Of course, sure things don't always pan out.  Just think back to the John Cusack movie The Sure Thing, where Nicolette Sheridan is supposed to be a sure thing and he STILL doesn't sleep with her!  On Gossip Girl earlier this week, Blair mentioned Facebook and it just sounded forced and fake.  And in the first episodes of new 90210, the school performed Spring Awakening.  Again, much too forced.  I don't buy it.  But as long as it isn't totally tacky, and it seems realistic to me, I love.

Now, if anyone wants to make a show for me, you know what I'm looking for.
