Tell Me the Appeal

I really enjoy the movie Center Stage.  It has great dancing, spunky characters, and is totally sexy.  But I don't understand why the main character, Jodie Sawyer, is the main character.  She is the worst dancer out of the bunch and has very little personality.  Yet for some reason, she gets the lead in the coolest dance, all the hottest guys, and is the center of the cool crowd.

I mean, think back to that scene where she goes to the hip dance class that Cooper Neilson is at.  She gets totally into it and looks amazing, but when it is her turn to do her own dance move, she does a simple leap across the floor.  It's boring and unoriginal. Just like everything that she says.  It just makes me angry when the least deserving characters get all the glory.  Sort of like how Rory gets all the guys on Gilmore Girls, but at least she is smart and quippy.
