Premiere of the Greek Recap

It only makes sense.  I talk about Greek all the time and I'm in love with the Gossip Girl recaps by Chris Rovzar and Jessica Pressler.  This had to be the next step.  But as I mentioned previously, Greek is on at the same time as Gossip Girl so keeping up with both blogs might be tricky.  Despite the issues, here is the first attempt at my Greekap (cute?).

Since I haven't done any yet, I'm thinking the format I'll try out this week is separation by character.  We'll see.

Additionally, I'm assuming that no one who reads this blog will have watched this episode yet or plans on it ever.  If you plan on watching it, don't read this yet, because it's gonna be spoilerific.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Casey- The sorority sister and center of the show.  Just love her so much.  She completely hated her time in DC, but tried to cover it up, because she was embarrassed about being their Elle Woods (her words, not mine.  although i probably would have used them too).  She is still with Kostos and they are still precious.  In the beginning, when she was still acting all weird, because of the whole lying about loving her summer thing, she decided to rent an apartment and move out of the ZBZ house. But that sucks!  She says she needs to focus,
so she doesn't want to be too involved with the sorority anymore.  Ashleigh is crushed, but fortunately, she wrangles Casey up in the get back at Frannie's IKI house scheme and Casey decides to move back.

I'd also like to point out, that there is no way Casey could have scored that model apartment a week before the semester started.  The landlady (realtor?) claimed the model apartment was the only thing left, but she NEVER would have rented it out.

Frannie-  Now I don't plan on recapping Frannie plots every week, but at this point, it's crucial.  She rented some cute house on Greek Row for IKI, which Casey and Ashleigh pronounce as icky.  Ha.  But some slutty 70 year old Tri Pi owns the house, so it's all awk.  And she can't even afford the rent.  Evan has to pay for it.  Frannie is also playing super dirty, by trying to meet rushes before initiation.  And enticing them with Omega Chis.  She claims they will get affiliated once rush is over, so they can have the cake and eat it too.  God I hate her so much.

Rebecca-  And I thought I was going to hate Rebecca too.  She clung to Frannie's side the whole time and dirty rushed the new freshman.  But after she pulled Ashleigh and Casey into a bathroom stall, it turns out that she is going covert ops in IKI and is totally still a ZBZ.  She is rectified and I like her again. But in the previews, she kissed Cappie and that just won't do.

Cappie-  Didn't do much this week.  He said hi to Casey and looked sad when he heard she was still with Max.  Although he did say "get back together with Max," which is weird, since I remember no break up.  Wishful thinking?  He mostly just Kappa Taud. But it was great when they hijacked the Omega Chi bus and stole Jesse McCartney.

Jesse McCartney-  I don't remember his character name, since he didn't get the huge introduction I expected.  4.1 GPA, high school valedictorian, big time footballer,
likes beer.  Seems to have the whole package. He probably will stay supposedly perfect until the end of time.  He seemed to like either fraternity, but didn't ooze personality yet.  We'll see.

Rusty-  Decided he couldn't live at Kappa Tau after they laughed at the fact that he takes classes.  Also, a possum almost killed him.  So he and Dale moved into the apartment that Casey rented, after she moved back into ZBZ. Wahoo!  It all worked out.  That also means that we won't have to lose any Dale time.

The rest of the characters were a little underwhelming (now I'm thinking of that line from 10 Things I Hate About You, you know what I'm talking about?). Calvin had some sweet, earnest moments, but he also seemed a little down on Omega Chi, which was bizarre.  He was also really good to Rusty.  Best friend ever!  Besides Ashleigh. Dale had some good lines, but no major storyline, other than his being afraid of a pale Canadian roommate.  Who wouldn't be though. Evan also had no major story. Ashleigh did, what with her Frannie scheming with Casey and Rebecca and a cute bit about camouflage booty shorts, but I figured I covered enough of that by covering Casey, Rebecca, and Frannie.

There was a sad lack of some of the smaller characters that I always liked.  The show got rid of Rebecca's favorite pledge sister, Mandi, when the actress got a role on 90210.20.  I miss her.  Rebecca needs a friend.  And the crazy drunk sister, Betsy, who was always on South of Nowhere and was on HIMYM once, was also nowhere to be seen.  Nor was Gonzo, aka Dave Franco, aka brother of James, maybe because he is working on becoming famous.  I also miss him.

Okay, so overall, very good episode.  Sweet plot twists, pop culture references, and Cappie.  Keep it up ABCFam!

  1. of course I know what line you're talking about (I'm paraphrasing the first line because I don't remember it exactly):
"I know you can be overwhelmed and I know you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?"
"I think you can in Europe"

Also, knowing that people who were on South of Nowhere and 90210 +Dave Franco make me want to watch episodes to see these people.
